Family Bridal Shower

We went to Utah a few weeks ago and while we were there my family put together a fun bridal shower for me. My aunts, my grandmas, my little girl cousins, my best friend, my awesome sister-in-law, and my sisters were all there. It was great to have the girls in my family all together to celebrate such an exciting time in my life. I had a blast! We had some great food that my aunts and grandmas made and talked and then we moved downstairs to open presents. Here are some pictures of the bridal shower!!

I love these girls!!

I couldn't have done any of this wedding planning without my mom. She has been such a big help to me and I love her so much!! Thank you mom!

My little cousin gave me a veil to wear

My cousins are adorable!

I love us!

I was so glad that Megan could come!

I can't wait to have Hailey as my sister-in-law. She is awesome!

Chase and I got some amazing gifts from my family and it made me even more excited to be getting married to him as I was thinking about putting all of those things into our apartment or our future home. Thank you to everyone who made that bridal shower such a fun experience! Your gifts are great and I can't wait to use them all in my home someday :)

WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!

Chase and I are going to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 14th. I can't wait to be with my best friend forever. I love him with all of my heart and I am very excited to spend my life being married to him.

Our Story

Amanda:  This past fall, Chase and I went to BYU-ID. Two days before school started, I went to a talent show with my roommates that my dad forced me to go to. When we got there my roommates and I were people searching and pointing out interesting or cute people that we saw in the crowd while we were waiting for the show to start. I was scanning over the crowd of students when a very fancy pair of pants caught my eye. I looked at the guy that was wearing these pants and immediately turned to my roommates and said that the guy in the yellow shirt wearing the fancy pants was really cute. They all looked at him and agreed and then starting calling dibs on him. We watched the guy in the yellow shirt and his friend as they searched for seats and eventually ended up sitting right behind me. The show started so there wasn't time to get a real good look at the yellow shirt guy but I was hoping that I could have a conversation with him sometime during the show. In the middle of the show, my roommate Noelle and her boyfriend Jeremy came and sat in the seats I was saving for them. During the intermission they turned around and said "Oh hey Brady!" to the yellow shirt guy's friend. I got really excited!! I whispered to Noelle that she has to introduce me to her friend so that I can get introduced to the yellow shirt guy. She did so...and I found out that the cute guy in the fancy pants and yellow shirt was named Chase and he was much cuter than I thought! He and I immediately started up a conversation and had so much fun talking to each other. He had a contagious laugh and I could not stop smiling while we talked. After the second half of the show all of my roommates, Jeremy, Chase and Brady got up to leave. Chase was on his way out of the gym when my roommate Zoe stopped him and told him to go back and get my number from me. He was very happy that she suggested this...as I found out later...because he really wanted to get to know me better but was too nervous to ask for my number. He came back...and asked. :) After that we hung out every single day for the rest of the semester.

These pants look really good on him :)
Chase:   So my first day at BYU-I there was a freshman (well new student, but only freshmen go) talent show.  I was just going to stay home that night and hang with my buddies from the mission. I went to one of my buddies appt. and he convinced me to go. SO i got dressed extra nice (the fancy pants and the yellow shirt) to look nice.  My buddy, brady, said that he knew a girl that was there...so we ensued in trying to find her.   we almost gave up but out of happenstance we gave up on the isle she was sitting at.  we sat behind her, it was noelle.  So i met noelle and jeremy.  Then noelle introduced me to amanda and the rest of the roommates.  I thought amanda was REALLY pretty, so i started up a conversation...the usual; whats your major, where are you from, etc.  so we ended up talking during the break in the talent show.  Then when it was over i really wanted to ask for her number...but she was super pretty and i was feeling not-so-confident.   So i was walking away...i said bye, then her roommate told me that i should go down and ask her for her number.   COURAGE!!  so i went down and asked her, and she gave it to me.  I was happy.  We decided to meet the next day.   I went to bed having met an angel for the first time.
Amanda:  The night after the talent show was the school I-Night and Dance. At the dance, Chase and I danced together the whole time. we decided that we were great swing dancers, even though we weren’t very good at all. Chase and I walked home together and got to know each other a little better. We played catch phrase and a pool game that night with people in the Rockland lounge.
Chase:  I-NIGHT was the next day.  It was a day full of games and random activities that night followed by a dance.  I had texted amanda a few times and was looking forward to spending the night together. My roomates ended up bring some girls with them so my roommates and I went out to the I-night.  Towards the end of the night I decided to meet up with brady, so i could see amanda again.  It was kinda awkward for a second when we met up but i tried to keep the conversation alive.  We went to the dance and i decided that I really needed to be energetic and pretty freaking awesome to be able to get a shot at making an impression with her.  SO i tried to be fun and have a good time but i could kinda tell she didn’t want to be there.  so i stepped up the fun.  When a swing dance song came on i thought to myself...Dang i wish i had taken the swing dance lessons in mutual!!  I decided i would be extra cool and i would make up a swing dance with her...and together we would be the swing dance king and queen.  It worked pretty well.   Then we slow danced. (i hate slow dancing with just a friend) then another slow dance but girls choice.  I didn’t want to be over the top with her...so i gave her some space to choose brady if she wanted to.  i looked down at my feet and around...then at her quickly to see if she was looking at me SHE WAS!  then back to my feet....at the tops of peoples heads. then she asked me, Dooooo.....you want to dance with me?  YES! i kept my cool, ....yes.  I knew she liked me....at least a little.  but little did i know, i was soon to become one of three guys on her little triangle of love.

On the third night that I knew Chase, we went out to icecream at Twizlberry. He bought my icecream that night. He is so nice :)

Amanda:  One night I was very down because my roommates were not being very nice and I was confused so I decided that I wanted to go for a walk to the park. As I was walking outside, Chase followed me out the door and offered to take a walk with me (ditching everyone else). We went to the park and talked for a long time. He told me that he liked me and I told him I like him too but I need to date around. He is such a sweet boy and I wanted to get to know him better.
There is a little piece of grass on the side of my apartment building and I used to go out there when it was warm and do homework on the grass. Chase would come over and do homework with me or just come talk to me in the grass and keep me company. We ended up not doing homework and got in a grass fight almost every time we went out there.

So I couldn’t decide if I liked Chase or not because another guy liked me and I kinda liked someone else at the time. One night we were cuddling on the couch and Chase got confused so I told him I just want to be friends and I was sorry for confusing him. The next day we didn’t talk at all until later in the night when I got home from the gym. He was teaching me how to long board and was holding my hand while helping me learn. It was very cute and sneaky. That night I was in a huge battle with myself. I couldn’t decide what I wanted so I asked everyone what they thought I should do and I thought about it a lot and decided that I really did like Chase more than any of the other guys. So later that night after Chase had been out with other girls, I asked him to come talk to me in the grass and I told him that I really like him and want to give a relationship with him a chance. He was very happy and I couldn’t stop smiling either :). I was very happy. The next day we drove to Utah to go to conference. You would think that 3 1/2 hours in a car with a boy would be kinda awkward but it was not awkward at all. I have never felt more comfortable with a guy in my whole life. We stopped at Cafe Rio on the way to my Grandpa Chamberlain’s house because Chase had never been there. We ate on the balcony of my Grandpa’s house. Chase had to go to a missionary reunion that night so he left and I stayed at the house and waited for my roommates to get there. The next day, Chase was going to leave to go back to Rexburg but I asked him if he would stay and go to conference with us. He said he would and he took us to conference. That morning we made waffles together before we went. I had general authority seats for conference but Tiah had already called a ticket but she decided to be awesome and gave her ticket to Chase so he and I could sit next to each other. It was the greatest session of general conference that I have ever been to. After conference we went to Iceburg with Megan, Tiah and Camille where Chase tried my favorite Cheesecake shake for the first time. We then drove back to North Salt Lake and hung out at my grandparents house. Chase had to work on a math quiz that night and he was super stressed so I was trying to comfort him as much as I could. Megan, Chase and I went in the backyard and laid on the grass and talked and laughed. Chase won. I really liked him and was happy that I decided to give him a chance.

Chase has a Wii but he never used it so he brought it over to my apartment and left it with me and my roommates. We played Mario Kart almost every day for fun in between classes. When I would be winning and Chase was losing, he would start kissing my cheek and try to distract me from the game. It was really irritating and funny.
We went to the park on Sundays afternoons to relax or do homework.
Our first date was interesting...but fun :) Everything with Chase is fun. We were supposed to go swimming and play volleyball but we ended up playing pool and ping pong and then we watched I Am Legend at the temple. It was too cold at the temple so we went to Rockland’s lounge instead.
One Sunday night after I had made dinner, Chase and I wanted to watch a movie so we went to the Colonial lounge and watched 50 first dates. We cuddled together for the first time that night.
Our favorite place to go out to eat together is the Teriyaki Shack. We go all the time because it’s cheap and amazing and it comes with 3 meals worth of food! It is delicious and I got addicted to it really quickly.
We went to Idaho Falls to run errands for Chase and Tiah. On the way home Chase FINALLY held my hand for the first time.

On the second week that we were dating we decided to take a day trip one Saturday to Swan Valley to find a waterfall. We had powdered donuts for breakfast. We ended up stopping a lot to take in the scenery. It was very fun getting lost with Chase. We finally found the waterfall after finding a camp site and a pretty lookout spot where we saw wild turkeys and cows. It was beautiful. After we stopped at the waterfall we went to that camp site which we call “Our Spot”, laid down a blanket, ate lunch and took a nap. It was so peaceful there and we got to talk a lot and yeah...:) We ended up staying until around 6 PM.

Chase comes over for Sunday dinner every Sunday. One day he decided we were feeding him too much so he made us dinner. He made his family’s amazing chicken soup that I LOVED. It was SO good! He made it for me many times after that.
We watched How to Train Your Dragon with my roommates and Jeremy.
Chase was stressed about taking a test so he came to the library while I was doing a study group and I walked him to the testing center. I gave him a very big hug and kiss to comfort him. Later I texted him and said “just know that I really like you”.
EVENTUALLY...:) Eventually Chase would tell me he loves me...and eventually we would get married.
I had been wanting to tell Chase that I love him for a while but I wanted him to say it first. Chase speaks Malay and he would randomly say things to me in Malay and I could never understand him. I was always wondering if he was secretly telling me he loves me in Malay so I looked up “how to say I love you in Malay” on my i-pod one day in choir. I love you in Malay is Saya Cinta Lah Mu. Chase was using my i-pod one night and found what I had looked up on google and started cracking up. I asked him what he was laughing at and he showed me. I was so embarrassed so I went outside on the grass to feel stupid. He came outside too and we sat outside talking for a while. He then told me that he loves me too. That night we went for a drive and stopped in a parking lot and took a walk down the street. There were a lot of leaves on the ground so we would stop and have a leaf fight and play in them together. When we got back to the car, Chase blasted one of my favorite songs out of the car and danced with me to the song. It was the cutest thing ever.
One day after class it was pouring rain. Chase and I met to walk home together. We got soaking wet from the rain but we stayed outside and danced/played/kissed in the rain. It was so cute and that has always been one of my dreams to kiss the one I love in the rain.
Chase came to my choir concert and stayed for both performances. He is awesome.
Chase and I were trying to decide what to do one night and he said he had a surprise for me. He took me to my practice room at the snow building and asked me to play the piano for him. I played some songs for him and he was very glad but he felt bad for forcing me to play the piano. I told him it was ok. It was really cool feeling comfortable about playing the piano in front of him. I have never been comfortable playing the piano or singing in front of a guy I like so that was a big eye opener for me.
Before Chase and I were dating, he knew I didn’t like how he blasted music out of his car windows because it wasn’t pretty music so he decided to blast Mo-Tab music instead. It was hilarious!
One night I was thinking that Chase’s hair is very touchable so I touched my hair and whispered to Camille that his hair is very touchable. He never figured out what we were saying so it was an inside joke and we did it to bug him. It was very entertaining.

Isn't he so cute!?!?! And his hair IS very touchable :)
Another day that we went to Idaho Falls, we were wondering if Egg Nog was in the stores. Chase bet that it was and I bet that it wasn’t. We decided that if it was in stores that I would go to Boise with Chase to meet his family and if it wasn’t then Chase had to go to Arizona to meet my family. Chase won but still wanted to go to Arizona to meet my family.
Chase called me on the way to one of his classes and asked me if I wanted to go on a date with him that day after his class. We went on a Teriyaki/Mario Kart date.
Noelle and Jeremy bought chalk so Chase and I went outside in the parking lot with them and drew pictures on the concrete. It was really fun and we got in a chalk war.
I told Chase about creamies and he finally tried one for the first time.
We were in the parking lot one night talking and Jeremy and Noelle came outside and attacked us with carrots. We fought back. Chase let me ride his longboard around a lot. It was fun having him teach me.

Megan Lambert came and visited me one weekend and we went to Mesa Falls with her.

We both wanted to go to the gym so we decided to start going to the gym together.

I was hanging out with Chase one night and I was kinda stressed and then Ashley called me crying so I cried too and ended up crying in front of Chase. He just held me in his arms and comforted me while I cried. He then took me to a lookout spot to see the city lights. We talked a lot that night about how much we care about each other
I felt bad for making Chase late to class so much so I told him I would make him cinnamon rolls. They were HUGE and really yummy.
When Megan was visiting me, we went to the park and played night games. We played blind man tag and lava monster on the play ground.
Chase made his awesome Curry for me and we did the dishes together which is always fun.
One night we were both really hungry and we went to the store to grab something to eat and decided to eat Marshmallow Mateys and Egg Nog for dinner.
Because I lost the egg nog bet I had to go to Boise with Chase to meet his family. I actually was very excited and really wanted to go. The first 5 minutes that I got to his house, I went to the bathroom and ended up flooding the toilet. Chase had to come plunge the toilet and help me clean up the mess I made. It was gross and I don’t know why he still liked me after that. We went on a four wheeler ride after that to the top of the foothills that are behind his house and watched the sunset. We talked for a long time up there and yeah...:) His dad made steak that night which was amazing and then we went outside in his mom’s garden and sat on a swing and looked at the stars. We kissed a lot on the swing that night and because my face is sensitive and he didn’t shave, my face turned red around my mouth. It was very embarrassing. We stayed up until 3 AM that night. The next day we ran a bunch of errands and it was very fun. That night we went to Blair’s house and celebrated Halloween with his family. We carved pumpkins and ate food and had a lot of fun. Later that night when were going to sleep we talked about marriage. It wasn’t weird talking about marriage with him. We went to church with his family the next day and he spat gum on me during church. It was very funny. We were going to leave that night but Chase and I had a long nap and woke up late. Chase’s parents took a bunch of pictures of us that night and they looked like engagement pictures. We went to Blair’s house for dinner that night and played guesstures with the family. We were planning on going to bed early that night so we could leave early to go home in the morning but we stayed up until two talking about marriage.

We were planning on going to a haunted swing with Jeremy and Noelle one night but it was already taken so we decided to go to an old potato barn instead. We heard really creepy sounds and got scared so we left. We then went to a church and laid down on the grass and looked at the stars and shared embarrassing moments. We played a joke on Noelle and Jeremy. Chase has a fake proposal ring so I put it on one night and wore it in front of them so they would think we are engaged. Jeremy was just like “ok cool” but when Noelle saw she said “what?! WHEN?!?!”. It was so funny. She totally thought we were serious! But it made me think about that a lot...and I was thinking that I could be happy with being married to Chase.

Chase and I went on a road trip to Jackson Hole. On our way we stopped at a park and played on those spinning things on the ground. It was really fun. We then went and bought peach rings and beef jerky of course. We stopped at the welcome to Wyoming sign so I could stand in two places at once and at the top of the pass overlooking Jackson Hole and had a snowball fight and took pictures. On the way down the hill Chase’s breaks were being weird so later that day we had to take his car into a shop to be checked out and found out he needed his breaks to be fixed. We went to K-Mart while his car was being checked out and tried on hats and bought a gingerbread house to make later. So apparently that day there was a big town celebration because the Washington DC Christmas tree had been cut and was traveling through the town that day. We went to a visitors center with dead animals in it and went on the roof to watch the tree come into town. We then walked around town and looked at a lot of fun shops and watched the dog sled team come to take the tree away. After we had stopped at a chocolate shop and gotten some toffee center and english toffee we decided that we were really hungry for pasta so we walked around to find a good restaurant to eat at. Chase found one of his favorite restaurants but we wanted something else so we kept exploring. The sunset was beautiful that night and we talked a lot about how nice it was to be there with each other although it kinda felt like a honeymoon. We walked past a skii fence and Chase kept saying we should go a certain way and we eventually got to a pasta house...of course because that’s just how things work out for me and Chase. haha We ate a really nice dinner there and then walked back to the car and took pictures at the elk antler arch. Unfortunately we had to go home so we started to drive back the longer way because his breaks were still broken. I bought Chase some orange sticks on the way home because I LOVE HIM!! We sang together in the car on the way home. We had a blast that day. Road trips are always so much fun with Chase :)

I had to go to a choir concert for an assignment so Chase came with me. After the concert we got a pizza and ate it at my apartment then we went to the church again and laid down and looked at the stars. We talked a lot about marriage that night.
After FHE one night Chase came over and we decided that we wanted to make homemade icecream with the snow...so we did. It turned out to be pretty good. When we were getting the snow to make the icecream Chase tackled me in the snow and got me very cold and wet. It was fun :)

We went to a movie at a theater for the first time together and saw Wallstreet. We found a double seat in the very back of the theater and sat there. It was really comfortable and that was the first time either of us had kissed someone in a movie theater. We bought candy before we got to the movie and there was an ad that said “Got Honor?” and was talking about how you shouldn’t bring your own food into theaters...oops! After the movie we were getting into the car and I accidently knocked the popcorn out of Chase’s hands haha
We made the Gingerbread house that we had bought in Jackson Hole and it turned out to be really good! We had whipping wars in the kitchen that night too.

It started snowing really hard one night so Chase came and picked me up and drove out to the middle of nowhere so we could drive through the snow. He is the first guy I have ever dated in the winter time so it was really fun playing in the snow with him.

We went to Boise again for a second visit. While we were there we went shooting, raked leaves and played with Chase’s nieces and nephews outside, we went to the singles ward, we went to Cheesecake factory with Chase’s family, we stayed up until 6 AM watching movies and yeah...:), and we played games with his family like Settlers of Catan and Mario Kart.

The day after we got back from Boise we went ring shopping :) We found THE PERFECT RING at Jensen Jewelers. It was the first ring we had really looked at. We made future plans together talking about finances and school and a date and everything. It made us both very excited to talk about.

We went to Idaho Falls and went ring shopping and then went and ate panda express and then took a visit to the haunted swing and talked a lot about marriage. before that we got stuck in the mud because chase always thinks his car is so tough...:) I got a really bad sore throat and had to go home but Chase stayed and comforted me in my apartment until curfew. He is so sweet.
Chase and I went to Arizona for Thanksgiving break. My family didn’t know I was coming so it was a HUGE surprise for them. Chase got to meet my family and they absolutely loved him!  He is the sweetest, most amazing guy in the whole world so I knew they would love him as much as I do. We made our favorite Springer family dish...Spatzle. I told my dad that weekend that Chase is the one I want to spend eternity with. He approved :)

We visited Boise one more time and had so much fun with Chase’s family. We made an awesome snow man and just relaxed with his family. I absolutely love his family and really enjoyed getting to know them better. On the way home from his house in Boise...Chase proposed to me in the car on the way home. He said.. “Amanda...I know I don’t have a ring and I haven’t asked your dad for permission...but will you marry me?” It was the absolute perfect moment to say it and he did. I cried a lot and said yes.

3 days later on December 8th Chase called my dad during my choir concert dress rehearsal. After the rehearsal I asked Chase how it went. He looked like he had seen a ghost and said that “That was the most stressful phone call he had ever made”. I got really nervous as he told me that my dad called him crazy for wanting to marry me. Chase told me that we needed to spend the night alone discussing some things. We went for a walk downtown and we talked about how our relationship is going and what we would want in a future together if we ended up getting married. Chase would randomly stop and look at our reflection in a store window and say that he could see us doing this when we are 50 years old. It was so cute. He told me that he wanted to take a picture at the end of the street by the tall Christmas trees. I followed him and when we got there he gave me a big bear hug. We looked down the street holding each other close. Chase was talking about how beautiful the street and weather and I was...and also said that he would remember this moment forever. We stood there for a little while and then Chase grabbed my hand and put it against his chest as he told me that his heart was beating really fast. It seemed like he was really nervous but I didn’t know why. I asked him why his heart was beating so quickly...and then he got down on one knee, pulled out a white ring box and asked me to marry him. This time it was an official proposal. I started crying and immediately said Yes. Chase makes me the happiest girl in the whole world and I can’t wait to spend every day with him for the rest of eternity. I love Chase Williams and I can’t wait to marry him. :)
